The first and most obvious thing to check is your key fob battery. If a fresh battery fixes the problem, consider yourself lucky. If not, also check your battery's voltage to make sure it's reading 12 volts with the ignition off and 14 volts with the ignition on and the alternator running. Unfortunately, these systems are not always reliable and can start to malfunction over time. There are a few common problems that can plague the central locking systems of the Citroen Berlingo. The first is an issue with the locking mechanism. If the locking mechanism is faulty, the lock may not work properly, or it may not lock at all. If the fuse is not blown, they will try to repair the car's central locking system. If the car's central locking system is beyond repair, they will replace it with a new one. 2. Inspect the Door Lock Actuators. Most newer cars have a central locking system that locks and unlocks all the doors with the push of a button. If not, replace it and try the doors and trunk opening again. Pulling/replacing the fuse resets the PSE (Pneumatic Service Equipment) pump located in the left forward corner of the trunk, behind the lining. If the door locking/unlocking works from the dash buttons, but not the key, the key battery may be dead. Remote entry (locking and unlocking via key fob and central locking button) Trunk release (via key fob, handle button and interior trunk release button) Vehicle alarm (siren, tilt & sonar sensors and clown nose light) Windshield wiper and washer (both front and rear if equipped) Interior lights. 4. While holding the unlock button, press and release the lock (centre Mini logo) button 3 times, within 10 seconds. 5. After the third press release both buttons and the doors should lock and then unlock. 6. If you have another key to program, start at step 3 (by pressing both buttons). 7. The vehicle will still start OK with the key. Technically, there is a short delay when selecting OFF OFF with the remote fob still working, but after a few mins, it will be dead. The OFF OFF position is a storage mode (probably called PARK) to preserve the main battery life, often on motorhomes using the Ducato chassis. Put Key in Car Ignition. Take Self, Do not turn on the Engine and Remove Key. Tap Alarm Button 4 Times Continuously and Keep Pressing it for 5th Time, till an alarm sound comes in. Now continue pressing Alarm Button and also press Lock Button on the Key simultaneously. It implies that Security Alarm System is activated in Car. Originally, the keyfob would not work at all. I have rewired the module above the spoiler due to snapped wires, checked the module and all seems ok now. All fuses associated with the central locking have been checked and are good (the two usual suspects have already been uprated to 20A). Since the rewire: The doors all lock from the keyfob. Unfortunately, there are many electronics and moving parts involved, so it's possible to find your car's central locking system not working at some point in time.
